Totally Hair Barbie

When I was younger, every year for Christmas, as a tradition at my grandparent's house, we would draw names & the person who's name we chose, we'd get a gift for. One time, I chose my oldest sister, Myra, and I picked out a "diamond" studded watch from K-Mart. It was $19.99 plus tax, putting me over my $20 limit...she of course wondered why I got her this watch, but I was like 8- it looked cool to me!

So one year, the sister that I "grew up" with, Ami, (we're 2 years apart), and I picked each other's names. This was fantastic! Somehow, we came to an immediate agreement that we'd get each other what we each wanted...I'm pretty sure this was initially my idea since I've always been more of "trouble-maker" out of us two. I like to say "instigator" but whatever.

Needless to say, I got the Barbie.

Totally Hair Barbie

1992

Even Barbie couldn't escape the bad fashion fads of the past. Always reflecting the latest trends and styles, Barbie got a big hair makeover and loud colorful outfit in the early '90s. The doll came with a tube of real Dep hair gel to tame the long hair that went all the way down to Barbie's ankles. At over 10 million sold world-wide, Totally Hair Barbie holds the record for the best-selling Barbie ever.
